8 Mummies and a Nobleman’s Sarcophagus: Egypt’s latest Discovery

An exciting Egyptian archeological mission in the Draa Abul Nagaa necropolis near Luxor has just removed 450 cubic meters of debris to uncover 3,500-year-old tombs belonging to a city judge named Userhat. This nobleman’s burial chamber housed 10 stunning sarcophagi along with eight linen-wrapped mummies belonging to ancient Egypt’s 21st dynasty. In addition, the Ministry of Antiquities announced that a collection of over 200 funerary figurines, known as ushabti, and wooden masks were uncovered at the site. As the excavation continues, researchers hope to gain new knowledge revealing hidden fragments in the ancient Egyptian timeline.
